I don't have such error using both option "import from camera' and 'import from specified location' with a card reader on XP. Sorry if I'm mistakenly understanding you Under "Recent Action" in Library View, nothing is shown under "Last Import". Nothing changes in the albums in Library View. Some kind of activity occurs and a progress bar is displayed but I don't know where the images are going, if any are being moved or copied at all. Importing from there, though, using "Import Images from a Specified Location" does not even give the option to set up and name an album. No problems manually copying the files to a Windows folder in Windows Explorer. In the Pictures folder in Windows Explorer, I now have an "OLYMPUS Viewer 3" folder with 6 sub-folders with names formatted "2013_MM_DD" but I cannot find an option in OV3 that lets me choose a naming convention when importing files.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling (and updating) OV3 and also restarted the PC but these actions have not solved the problem. Windows 8.1 PC and Olympus Viewer 3, Version 1.2. Files are ORF and jpeg and are on a CF card.

Would welcome any suggestions on how to get around this. The error occurs when I choose "Import selected image(s)" and when I click on "Import all images". I'm in Library View, I have selected "Album Name", entered a title in the field and left the "Use shooting date as album name", "Delete Files in Camera (Media) automatically after Transfer", and "Omit photos already imported" boxes unchecked. I've been trying to "Import Images from Camera" this evening (card in a card reader) and though I can view and select the images I want to import, I go on to get the above error message every time.

Taking all of this into consideration, it becomes apparent that Olympus Viewer is a useful and complex piece of software for viewing, managing and editing photographs, which does not put a strain on your PC’s resources. After installing Olympus Viewer 3 earlier this year I was able to retain the album structures from Olympus Master 2. Once you are done with editing, you can save the files to the HDD in JPG, TIFF and BMP formats, while also selecting compression quality and resolution. With this program, you can also capture images from movies, fade in and out, cut movies or merge frames. Plus, you can tweak the gamma, colors, brightness, contrast and saturation, as well as use noise reduction, distortion correction, shading compensation and sharpness tools. In the edit window, you can insert text, zoom in and out, remove red eyes, correct fisheye and flip images. Aside from that, you can set a photo as a wallpaper or access tools such as Auto-Panorama, or a resize and convert one. It is possible to cut, copy, paste and rotate files, as well as upload them to social networking platforms such as Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. The first enables you to add entire folders of images and see them as thumbnails or on the entire screen. This software tool can be shown in different modes, namely the viewer and the edit ones. In addition to that, it consists of a folder structure, a panel in which to preview pictures, a selection box, several shortcut buttons and a menu bar This means that it can be used even by people with no prior experience with computers. The installation process does not bring any surprises, and upon completing it, you are greeted by a modern-looking and intuitive interface. Olympus Viewer is a software utility developed specifically to help people view, print and edit photos from their hard drive.
